From 14 September to 5 October 2016 the Somerset House will be the playing ground of the London Design Biennale 2016 to showcase design talent from up to 40 of the world’s nations. Presented in the entirety of Somerset House – including one of the most architecturally stunning courtyards in central London, the Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court – the Biennale presents an exceptional opportunity for countries to interrogate the contentious theme, Utopia by Design.
“These responses will demonstrate the power design has not only to strike up and inform debate, but also as a catalyst: provoking real change by suggesting inspiring or cautionary futures. Alongside the exhibition there will be an ambitious talks programme bringing together the very best international thinkers, and I hope that the Biennale will become a laboratory of ideas that might, in their way, contribute to making the world a better place”, says Dr Christopher Turner, Director of the London Design Biennale.
An global celebration of design as a get together of the whole world – a power which is reflected through different ways: exchanging ideas, provoking reality through new concepts and inspiring future models. We are looking forward to this exciting convergence of different nations and influences brought together by the London Design Biennale 2016!
